FIVE students from the Cadoxton School of Tae Kwon Do recently attended the International Combat Organisation Celtic Open tournament held in Pontypool.

This was the last chance to assess their fitness and timing before competing in the WOMAA World Games this year being held in the Cardiff National Indoor Athletic Centre.

First up in the boys point sparring was Cody Jacobsen. Cody looked sharp although his timing was slightly out his fitness was excellent just losing out to the eventual group winner by just one point in the dying seconds.

Jake Quigley competed in both the boys point and continuous sparring, as usual this young man gave his all as every time he competes and is looking good for the World Games ahead.

Also competing in the girls point and continuous sparring was young Thea Cunningham. Thea showed excellent timing and fitness to eventually come away with a first place in continuous sparring.

Next it was the turn of the adults where Matthew Bennett and Keita Enfield were competing, testing himself Matthew not only competed in his own weight category but also up a weight category. Matthew did well to take second place in both categories.

Meanwhile Keita Enfield was also competing up a weight in the women's middle weight point sparring where she fought her way through the rounds eventually coming away with a credible third place.

The Cadoxton team are now looking forward to joining up with the Welsh Squad and competing in the up and coming World Games.
