AGAINST old rivals Glenwood the Spartans won their semi-final by 28 runs to reach the Cardiff Midweek cup final which will be against either Glamorgan Centurions or Cardiff Cameos.
Winning the toss the Spartans elected to bat first in this 18 over a side game.
The score had reached 17 before Atul was well stumped, but Sudesh (28) and Skipper Abdul (16) pushed the score to 64 before both batsmen were out in the same over leaving the Spartans 64 for 3 after 11 overs and a quick injection of runs was needed.
This was provided by Vijay (23) together with Gaurav (11 no) who with the loss of Vijay supported Inan who hit four sixes in a great show of power hitting ending on 27 no and the Spartans had hit a decent score of 141 for six off the allotted 18 overs , and a special mention goes to Glenwood bowler Jones who took a hat trick.
In response Glenwood had to go for it from the off with eight per over required. Inan and Aman taking his first Spartan wicket kept the total down and after six overs the score was 25 for 1.
Gaurav continued the restriction with three overs two for 16 and an excellent catch on the boundary by Morgan reduced Glenwood to 85 for four from 13 overs.
Sathish and Abdul took further wickets as the home side finished on 113 for six and victory was the Spartans.
