BARRY Romilly bowling stalwarts Idris Michael, Gordon Wilson and Gordon Whittaker have called it a day after a combined 84 years at the club.
Idris (28 years with BRBC), Gordon Wilson (35 years) and Gordon Whittaker (21 years) unfortunately are having to give up the game they love and have played together for so long.
Idris Michael and Gordon Wilson have only ever played bowls at Barry Romilly but Gordon Whittaker started bowling in 1937 when he played for Jersey Bowling Club in Swansea.
In 1961 Gordon moved to Barry and started playing for Barry Athletic, after a few years he joined Barry Central BC where he was chairman for six years.
He then joined Barry Romilly in 1994 where he has played ever since and it was only last season that Gordon at 95 years of age finally called it a day.
It is with heart felt warmth that all at Barry Romilly Bowling Club and the local bowling fraternity wish them all good health and best wishes.
