ON SATURDAY Barry Athletic Cricket Club 1st XI entertained Sully Centurions at The Athletic Ground, Barry Island.

Barry captain John Gee won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first on a wonderful sunny afternoon.

Sully were soon in trouble as they lost their first two wicket with just 19 on the board.

With Tom Davies caught brilliantly at short cover by Rhett Jones for 3 off the bowling of Lewis Doel and Fendouz bowled for 4 off the first ball of Steve Provis's season, there was then a partnership of 55 between Singh and Ellis before Singh was given out plumb LBW off the bowling of Griffett, at 76.

Griffett took his 2nd wicket when he had Lloyd Bruce caught by Steve Jones for 0.

Ellis was still there plodding along and keeping the innings together, it soon became 93 for 5 when Sullivan was run out for 2, in a spell of bowling between Gee and Griffett that produced 20 overs 5 maidens and 2 wickets for the cost of only 43 runs.

Sandip Sohkin was next to go with the score on 111 when he was caught Martin Baker off the bowling of Frost for 11.

At 137 it became 8 wickets down when N Jones was run out going for the third run and on 158 it was 8 wickets down when Christian Bruce who had been caught behind a few balls earlier and had not walked was out LBW off the Bowling of Steve Jones.

It was then 159 for 9 when Steve Provis had Cuddihy caught by Nathan Baker for 0.

All along Ellis was holding the innings together and when the last wicket fell of Davies caught by Nathan Baker off the bowling of Steve Jones Sully were all out for 174 in the 43rd over with Ellis left stranded and carrying his bat for 86 not out.

Barry's openers, Steve Provis and Nathan Baker, were not going to waste any time as they both went about the Sully the lack lustre attack with some gusto and panache with Baker getting off the mark second ball when he put Lloyd Bruce out of the ground.

The third over of the inning went for 11 as Provis showed no mercy for the mediocre bowling of Santos Singh.

The Provis showed no mercy to Lloyd Bruce who took himself off after his third over had gone for 16 and his 3 over spell costing 28 runs.

Although Santos Singh was still on at the other end and was being given a batting master class from both Baker and Provis who were being very brutal and savage on his bowling he was eventually taken out of the bowling attack after his 8 overs had cost 58 runs.

Both Provis in 53 balls with 9 fours and 1 six and Baker in 54 Balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes both reached their fifties, but it did not take long for the game to come to and end when with just 18.4 overs and with Barry 175 for 0 and a massive 10 wicket win with Provis 94 not out from 53 balls with 16 fours and 1 six and Baker 79 not out from 49 balls and 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Murphy 100 sees Barry 2nds to massive win.

Griffett with 2 for 58, in reply Sully who never even put a much of a fight were bowled out for 104 with Billy Usswald taking 6 for 6 and Mitchel Taylor Moore taking 2 for 38 with only Peter Thomas showing any resistance with 38, a massive 260 run win for Barry and a fine day for the whole club in the 125th Anniversary year.

Ferriday 1 for 25 and E.
