ON Saturday Barry Athletic Cricket Club 1st XI travelled to Lisvane for what turned out to be a disappointing afternoon as they lost their second game in a row, Lisvane won the toss and invited Barry to bat first.

Barry did not get off to a great start as they lost last weeks century scorer Nathan Barker to the fifth ball of the innings for zero, they then lost the wickets of Murphy for one and Brock zero, the score became five for three.

This brought Mike Provis to join Rhett Jones at the crease, they added 35 before Rhett Jones was out bowled to a ball that kept very low, zero for four soon became 48 for five when Griffett was stumped for two.

Ashley Davies then came and went for five, now it was 58 for six, it soon became 59 for seven when the wicket of Usswald for zero and Steve Jones soon followed for zero and now Barry were deep in trouble at 60 for eight.

This brought Dafydd Frost to join Provis and they added a fine 44 and took the score to 104 before Frost was out for a fine battling brave 11, Lewis Doel then joined Provis and they added an entertaining 65 and took the score on to 169 before Doel was out for a quick fire 22, Provis was left stranded on a fine knock of 75 not out.

In reply Lisvane got off to a good start and had reached 35 before Frost got the wicket of Kier for 22 brilliantly caught by Mike Provis, Turner went for 20 bowled Doel with the score on 85. Bhatt went for 32 with the score on 125 caught Rhett Jones of the bowling of Usswald and Morgan went for 58 with the score on 141 caught by Del off Murphy, Walden and Curzon then saw Lisvane home to 172 for four and win the game by six wickets.

Barry Athletic 2nd XI played at home to Croesyceiliog and batted first and rattled up a total of 224 for three in their 45 overs with Ashley Baker 57, J Reji 51, Henry Dawson 32 not out and Lee Morgan 39 not out being the main run scorers.

In reply Croesyceiliog reached 178 for eight in their 45 overs with R Avery 51, C Edwards 40 and M Lewis being the main run scorers, the main bowlers were Ethan Fid two for 25 and Simon Phillips two for 27 as Barry ran out winners by 65 runs.

This Saturday Barry Athletic entertain local rivals Sully Centurions with the 1st at The Athletic Ground, Barry Island and the 2nd XI make the short trip to Burnham Avenue. Junior training is every Tuesday at The Athletic Ground, Barry Island 6pm till 7.15pm and all parents who would like their children to get into a sport and get fit and healthy bring them along and enjoy themselves playing the game of cricket.

Senior nets start on Thursday, June 4 at The Ground 6pm till 8pm.
