Cadoxton Barry 3rds 3 St Athans 2
CADOXTON Barry 3rds faced St Athans 2nds recently with St Athans being heavily reinforced with first team players who didn’t have a game, making CB 3rds very much the underdogs.
A CB goal came from Riley in the 12th minute - a lob from the edge of the box was equalised by a Harfoot free kick.
CB regained the lead when a pass from Smart truck in the mud to set up Geary to go on a run before looping a shot home in the 33rd minute.
Again St Athan fought back and with a goal from Warne on the stroke of half-time, this following an extended spell of St Athan pressure left the score at 2-2.
St Athan continued to press in the second half but a long ball out of defence down the left found Smart whose powerful shot was redirected for an own goal by Howells.
The game became more even but CB still had to work hard to preserve their lead to the final whistle.
