PREPARING for his world title fight at Floyd Mayweather's gym in Los Angeles has its perks, not least ending up hobnobbing with the stars of stage and screen.

Barry's featherweight superstar Lee Selby this week posted a picture of himself online with Holywood legend Terence Stamp who he had dinner with during a break from training in LA.

Lee's father, Lee Selby Snr, said that it was no surprise to see his son photographed with a celebrity admirer, a regular occurrence nowadays for the Barry boxer.

"It doesn't surprise me," he said. "They know people who know people, they all know each other.

"The preparation has been going really well out there, Lee has been training with Oscar Valdez, getting in some good sparring."

Selby himself will be featured on the small screen this spring, when a BBC documentary about the lead up to May's clash with undefeated Russian Evgveny Gradovich airs.

The film, Belts in Barry, also explores Selby's life in the town he grew up in, his years of training and the build up to the fight that will define career and life so far.

Lee Selby Snr revealed that a documentary crew have been following his son for the last six months, from Barry to the USA and back.

The documentary is described by BBC Three commissioning editor Elliot Reed as a "film is about [Selby] as a character, his family around him and where he comes from".

He continues: "This makes the story all the more interesting because he comes from a very, very impoverished part of the UK.

"It’s definitely a single character film but it’s not necessarily a film about a sportsman. It is a film about a guy from Wales who has come from a really difficult background, and now is aiming for the biggest crown in boxing".

Selby will have little time to focus on his small screen appearance though, with his IBF featherweight world title shot taking place on May 30 at the 02 Arena, London.

Selby Snr spoke about his son's chances of bringing a world championship back to Barry this year.

"It's going to be hard," he said. "The guy has defended his belt four times, but I do see Lee winning.

"They have made him favourite going in so obviously other people feel the same."
