The team has 14 girls with a large percentage of them being pupils at Sully Primary School.

The club is set in the heart of Sully and is run by volunteers meaning sponsorship from companies like Redrow so important.

The club currently boasts three junior girls’ teams, one Under-10 and two Under-12s. The club is looking forward to having three age groups next season as one of the Under-12 teams will be moving up to Under-14 level.

The team have had a good season so far and are joint top in their division.

Sully Under-12s were invited to Redrow’s latest development, The Grange, which is located in Wenvoe.

Steve Gunney, coach of the Sully Under-12s said: “Everyone at the club hugely appreciates a company like Redrow coming in and supporting us. It was a much needed sponsorship opportunity which will help keep the girls playing in kit they can be proud of.

“The girls section of our club has been going for approximately 8 years and girl’s football in general has really taken off over the last decade. Sully Girl’s Football Team are really trying to establish their place in the area and this new kit will help us do that.

“I cannot express enough how excited the girls were on the day the new kit arrived, especially when they saw that it was pink! They are the only team in the area to have a pink kit so they really stand out.”

Bev Wookey, area sales manager for Redrow South Wales, said: “We are delighted to have been able to provide the Sully team with this fabulous new kit. It is great to see girls getting involved in football and they are certainly going to stand out in their pink kit. With our new development, The Grange, having launched in nearby Wenvoe it is really nice to be able to support the local community in whatever way we can.”
