THE Cadoxton Schools of Tae Kwon Do took a small contingent of new and experienced competitors to the International Combat Organisation (ICO) Welsh open hosted by Rob Taylor at Pontypool leisure centre.

Competing in the mixed girls and boys pee wee beginners under-125cm they had young Charlie Rogers. Charlie gave a good account of herself taking second place and the silver.

Cameron Evans was competing in the boys intermediate under-150cm point and continuous sparring, came away with a creditable second in the point sparring category.

In one of the toughest categories of the day they had Cian Allen. Cian was competing in the boys advanced under-150 point and continuous sparring categories, after some close rounds Cian took the bronze.

In the ladies 60kg advanced point sparring they had Keita Enfield competing. Keita fought her way into the final where she dominated her opponent to take first place and the gold.

Matthew Bennett was competing in a very strong men's advanced 65kg point sparring category, with some exceptional fighters on display Matthew did extremely well to take the bronze.

Giving a good account of themselves they had Cody Jacobsen in the boys advanced 130cm, Jake Quigley in the boys advanced under 140cm and Ethan Andrus in the boys intermediate under 150cm point and continuous sparring all just losing out on a podium place this time.

Undoubtedly star of the day was young Maddison Allen; Madison was competing in the mixed boys and girls little ninja advanced point and continuous sparring.

Maddison took the gold in the points fighting and after several bouts (all against boys) she got to the final of the continuous sparring and took her second gold of the day.
