TOWN Councillors celebrated Barry’s newly achieved Fair Trade status at Jenner Park at the weekend.
During half-time of Saturday's fixture against Undy Athletic, Barry Town United's development squads played the town's first "fair trade football" match, using a fair trade ball sponsored by Barry Town Council.
The exhibition match took place days after the council were informed that Barry is now a Fair Trade town.
Councillor Shirley Hodges said: “We are very pleased that Barry Town is a Fair Trade Town and that we were able to provide this Fair Trade Football for Saturday’s half-time entertainment.
“Hopefully, one day all football will be fair trade, so that we know that everybody working in football, making footballs and kit, is paid a fair wage for the work that they do.”
