ON A very wet and windy Sunday in Skewen, the Vale Reds Disability Football team took part in a festival and for the second time in three years the Vale Reds came away with silverware from the tournament.

This time it was the A team that were too strong for the opposing teams and ended up being undefeated in the competition.

The team played very well and they managed to play their own game by having a strong midfield player in Ibby Hassan who scored in every game and that gave him the player-of-the-tournament for the Champions League section.

There were also strong performances from rest of the 'A' team especially Kerian Anderson in goals who pulled off some lovely saves and the help of James Clarke and Nick Latham staying strong at the back managed to keep the goals scored against them to a minimum.

However, the goals flowed for the Vale Reds with Chloe McBratney, Lewis Overton and Adam Davies all getting on the score sheet with a very strong and organised display.

The 'B' team also competed and had a bit of a bad start with a loss to Claddau Warriors which was going to be their downfall at the end as all the teams in their group won two and lost one.

After looking at the goal difference the B team lost out by one goal to stop them going into the final.

But yet again there were strong performances from everyone especially Josh Hill and Josh Watkins who had been promoted into the team for their attitude and hard work in training.

Josh Hill scored a hat-trick and one of the goals was a lovely volley into the right hand side of the goal that left the goalkeeper standing.

With the captain Mark Eveleigh commanding his team at the back they stayed strong to win two games thanks to some good work by the goalkeeper Liam Vanstrone.

The Vale Reds would like to thank Harp Rovers AFC for putting on such a good tournament, it was well run and all the Vale Reds had a good day.

The Vale Reds is the longest running disability football club in the Vale of Glamorgan and this year celebrates 10 years as a team.
