THE Cadoxton Schools of Taekwondo travelled to Swindon where over 300 competitors from all over the UK converged to take part in the Global Taekwondo International English Championships.

As usual, this well ran event started on time, and with six areas continually running throughout the day it finished on time.

The championship started with the pattern categories with Cameron Evans taking first place in the boy's green belts and Madison Allen taking third in the girl’s green belt with Ethan Andrus just missing out in the run off for third place.

Competing in the Pee Wee point sparring category they had Charlie Rogers, Maddison Allen and Thea Cunningham. Charlie just lost out while the more experienced, Maddison and Thea fought their way into the finals with Thea taking first place and Maddison coming away with the third.

In the girls blue belt middleweight continuous sparring they had Jessie Blackley and Lucia Cunningham. Both girls had some difficult fights with them ending up facing each other in the final with Lucia taking first place and Jessica second.

In the boy's green belt middleweight point sparring there was Ethan Andrus.

Ethan won his first bout, was then taken into extra time in his second just losing out. Meanwhile in the boy's green belt lightweight point sparring final Cameron Evans took first place.

In the boy's yellow belt lightweight point sparring they had two novice brothers competing, Riley and Bailey Rees who both gave a good account of themselves.

Competing in the boys blue belt heavyweight continuous sparring final there was Mason Blackley, after a hard fought fight Mason took second place.

There were three members competing in the boy's red belt lightweight continuous sparring, Jake Quigley, Cody Jacobsen and Joel Wells.

Joel was unlucky just losing out to the eventual winner, while Jake and Cody took joint third place.

Competing in a very strong boys red belt middleweight continuous sparring section, Cian Allen worked his way through to the final where he had a hard fight eventually overcoming his opponent to take first place.

Competing in a large cadet of 15 to 17 year olds black belt lightweight point sparring division was Matthew Bennett, Matthew worked hard to reach the final where he showed his experience convincingly taking first place.

Dominating the women's lightweight black belt continuous sparring was Keita Enfield. Keita went on to take first place.

While in the women's veterans black belt open weight category was Anita Sheppard who came away with second place.
