CONSIDERING the bad weather during the week, both Barry Albion and FC Pumas came out on to a decent pitch on a bright sunny day at Buttrills.

Five weeks without playing for the Pumas meant a big effort would be required against an opposition that had some former Pumas in their ranks.

For the Pumas, Gwyn Sparky and Titch came in to the starting line-up, replacing Adam who was at Anfield, Caleb who was on the bench and Jamie who left for pastures new. Spartan and Salmon joined Caleb on the bench.

The game kicked off and the anxiousness from both sides told, with passes going astray and the inability to hold on to the ball for long.

Albion pressed but the Pumas defence of Starzy, Mikey, Raphael and Fabio where solid, and Fisher was quick to collect any stray balls.

The Pumas looked to use the pace of Gwyn and Nat and it paid off when Nat's shot went just out of reach for Albion Keeper Blagger and made the score 1-0.

Sparky had a good shot saved by Blagger after good work down the right side from Trev and Raphael.

Even at 1-0 down, Albion looked the better side with Clemo and Chang pulling the strings. Albion did press further and for their effort Swagsounds scored with a 20 yard volley past Fisher making it 1-1.

The Pumas went straight up the other end and Gwyn hit the post. Not long after, Gwyn scored a good goal only for the referee to disallow the goal after he blew the whistle for half time.

A stern team talk from the Pumas gaffer Andy, some unknown words from Starzy and Gino put the lads in a focused yet confused state of mind.

The second half kicked off and it was evident the Pumas were up for it and seeing Blagger not in goals and Albion shuffling their team around meant the Pumas went looking for goals and they got a second when Nat scored after Gwyn had his shot palmed in to the path of the oncoming Geordie.

Spartan was introduced and wasted no time in introducing himself in to the game by sternly challenging all who got in his way.

It was 3-1 not long after when good work from Titch sent Gwyn through for the Pumas third.

Goal of the game next but to no avail as Titch was called offside after he produced an elegant chip over the Albion keeper, hard luck because it was quality.

Caleb replaced captain Trev and another Pumas goal shortly after when Nat scored again getting his hat trick after good work and an assist from sub Caleb who was trying to take on everyone including himself.

Titch then scored with a fabulous tap in after more good work from Caleb and the score was 5-1.

Nat finished up the scoring when Fabio put through a fabulous through ball and the scoring was complete.

The Pumas were 6-1 up and the second half was brilliant for them against a stubborn and unlucky Barry Albion side.

Thank you to referee Kevin Shaw and to the Tadross for the after match food and beverage. Good luck to Barry Albion and the Pumas will see you in the reverse fixture.

Pumas XI: Fisher, Fabio, Raphael, Mikey, Starzy, Gino, Trev, Titch, Sparky, Nat, Gwyn, Spartan, Caleb and Gabe.
