BARRY'S Cory Allen has been called up to the Welsh International squad for this year's Six Nations.

A rising star at Cardiff Blues, Allen has been named in Warren Gatland's 34 man squad for the upcoming competition.

The inside centre, from Cwm Talwg, Barry, made his international debut during the autumn internationals against Argentina in the 2013, a year that saw him claim his place in the Cardiff Blues first 15.

Despite suffering a shoulder injury which kept him out of the game for part of that season, Allen signed a new long-term deal with the Blues this year and has scored four tries in his 15 appearances.

Allen, 21, made his second international appearance when he came on a substitute against Australia in November.

The former Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg pupil has long been touted as a future prospect for Wales at centre.

Elsewhere in the Welsh squad, four uncapped players been called up; New Zealand born Cardiff Blues fly half Gareth Anscombe, Newport Gwent Dragons’ teenage centre Tyler Morgan, Scarlets prop Rob Evans and Cardiff Blues hooker Kristian Dacey.

"It's great to be able to name such an experienced squad that also boasts some exciting young talent,” said Wales coach Warren Gatland.

"The four uncapped players have all been going well for their respective regions and it will be good to see them in this environment and we hope they take the opportunity.

"They come into a squad packed with experience and that experience will be important to us over the next eight weeks and the year as a whole.

"We all know how tough the Six Nations is and we kick the tournament off with a huge game against England and that is something you have to be excited about and look forward to.

"We were pleased on the whole with the autumn campaign and this is another opportunity for us as we look ahead to a very big year in the rugby calendar.”
