OLYMPIC Gold medallist Nicole Cooke MBE is backing a new cycle route in the Vale of Glamorgan allowing two wheel enthusiasts of all levels to take on one of Wales’ most scenic, but less challenging routes throughout the year.
The route connects Cardiff Bay with Bridgend and travels through Penarth, Sully and Barry which takes in the best views.
The National Cycle Network, NCN88 in the rural Vale is supported by the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
It has now been completed following £729,000 of investment from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The Vale’s Glamorgan Heritage Coast is easily accessible on two wheels, with a relatively flat, fast cycle route hugging the coastline.
With a more temperate coastal climate, there is no excuse not to get out on the Vale route throughout the winter.
