A BARRY sporting club has declared its playing activity is not just for summer, but for all year round.

Barry Athletic Tennis Club, based at Barry Island, has launched its new autumn/winter programme, catering for all ages, with the aim of banishing shorter day and lower temperature blues.

The club caters for all ages and abilities.

Adults can enjoy CardioTennis sessions on Mondays at 7pm to 8pm, where you can get fit and have fun, while trying to hit a few tennis balls in what has been described as being “like circuit training on a tennis court.”

There are also TennisXpress classes (Thursdays 6.30pm to 8pm), which is a structured coaching course for absolute beginners through to rusty improvers, a great way to develop your on-court confidence and skills.

Women can benefit from the instruction of master tennis coach, Rob Cunningham, in a daytime ladies-only coaching session on Wednesdays, 1.30pm to 3pm.

The club is also further developing its partnership with Barry-based personal training company FitM8 by offering an indoor session at Barry YMCA on Wednesdays at 5pm, where children will receive tennis coaching while parents engage in a training session with members of FitM8's personal training staff.

Juniors can enjoy their regular Sunday morning coaching sessions with Vale Tennis Academy, as well as Family Fun Fridays and Only Girls Allowed sessions.

The club now offers Tots Tennis every Friday at 10.30am, and junior squad training focussing on small groups of players of a similar age and ability.

Sessions can be tried with no obligation.
