THIS Saturday, November 1 sees Barry Town United support Show Racism The Red Card's Fortnight of Action, as they display a clear anti-racism message prior to the 2pm kick-off against Chepstow Town.

After a successful first initiative in August, the Town's senior squad will again stand up against prejudice by wearing anti-racism warm-up shirts ahead of their Welsh League Division Two fixture at Jenner Park.

"As a club we are proud to play a part in Show Racism The Red Card's Fortnight of Action, having previously displayed this important message at our pre-season friendly with Cardiff City", commented Barry boss Gavin Chesterfield.

"As a coach and as a manager, I have zero tolerance for racism in football and I'm proud to say that Barry Town United as a club holds the same values".

Show Racism The Red Card's Fortnight of Action aims to challenge discrimination and celebrate the contribution that everyone makes to football, whatever their background. What began as a minor campaign has now become the largest series of anti-discrimination activities in sport, with over 1,500 activities taking place in nearly 50 countries last year and some of Europe’s top football stars lending their backing.

With the Barry squad aware of their responsibilities to Wales' biggest town, the club's Ambassador for Show Racism The Red Card, forward James Dixon had the following message to add:

"My friends outside football are from a variety of different countries and religions. I have witnessed the effects of racism both in and out of sport and how it can impact their lives. It is important we all stand together and unite against it; there is no place for racism in our game or society".

Saturday's match between Barry and Chepstow will be the home side's ninth of the new league campaign, with Chesterfield's side currently leading the way with 22 points from their first eight outings.

Supporters are urged to note the earlier kick-off time, with entry at the turnstiles remaining at £5 for adults, £4 for OAP and students and £3 for unaccompanied children, with a £1 discount for club members and accompanied children welcomed free of charge.
