BUDOKAN Judo Club Sully welcomed councillor Jeff Evans, the mayor of Barry, to watch a judo class and present the club with a cheque last Wednesday, October 15.

Beryl Cooke sixth Dan accepted the cheque on behalf of the club, thanking Barry town council and the mayor for their kind generosity.

The primaries aged six to nine years showed the mayor their judo knowledge in preparation for the area grading.

It was then the turn of the juniors aged 10 years to 15 years to put their abilities to the test. Juniors were asked questions about the history of the British Judo Council along with theory and practical judo to show their knowledge and abilities to the instructors testing them.

Judo classes are held at the Budokan Judo Club, Beechwoods Lane, off Hayes Road, Sully on Tuesday, juniors 7pm to 8.30pm; seniors 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Wednesdays primaries 6pm to 7pm; juniors 7pm to 8.30pm and Thursdays juniors 7pm to 8pm; seniors 8pm to 9.30pm.
