IT WAS a busy weekend of cup action for four sides under the Barry Town United banner.

On Saturday afternoon, the seniors lost a compelling Welsh League Cup tie at Taffs Well by three goals to one.

Gavin Chesterfield's depleted squad fell behind in the first half, only to roar back after the break and equalise through the inform winger Dale Howarth.

Howarth later crashed a mighty effort off the frame of the goal, but a brace against the run of play proved the Town's undoing.

Hours earlier, both the U12s and U14 sides had ensured progress in their respective quarter-final matches.

The U12s, coached by Leighton Yeoman, have enjoyed a successful first season with the club and are now one win from a Jenner Park final.

Meanwhile, Carl Hellerman's U14s mirrored their achievements, winning a high-scoring encounter with Llantwit Major.

Then on Sunday, Neil Owens' U19 squad pulled off a terrific comeback against Risca United, after falling behind on three separate occasions.

Two goals from Rhydian Hopkins, another from Taylor Harris and a Bradley O' Loughlin penalty kick ensured a 4-3 win for Barry and progress to the second round of the Welsh League Youth Cup.

Among those waiting in the next stage are the likes of Carmarthen Town, Haverfordwest County and Port Talbot Town.
