VALE Ladies faced Cascade Ladies with the Vale winning 6-3.

Playing at their new home at Barry Athletic Club, Vale entertained a Cascade team who were previously unbeaten this season and started the game full of confidence and were soon in the lead after only four minutes when Georgia Atkinson broke down the right wing and crossed the ball for Millie Jones to score a superb goal.

Cascade came into the game with a spell of pressure and from a free kick 25 yards out Ammelie Lewis scored with a fierce shot into the top corner of the net to equalise.

Vale then started to control the game and Georgia Atkinson restored the lead for Vale with a good shot from a breakaway after Charlene Hewings put her through with a defence splitting ball.

The rest of the first half was dominated by Vale with Shanice Donovan, Chloe Jones and Chloe Henderson controlling the midfield and it came as no surprise when another superb cross found Robyn Hall who made no mistake to make the score 3 - 1.

After this Vale made their excellent spell of pressure pay off and after 35 minutes a good passing movement saw Millie Jones score her second.

Vale then had several attempts at goal but were denied by the Cascade goalkeeper Holly Williams playing only her second game in goal.

After 41 minutes a nice run by Chloe Jones squaring the ball for Charlene Henderson to make it 5-1 at half time.

The second half started with the game a little more even and Cascade showing more urgency and had several chances to score but the Vale defence held firm and Fracesca Howorth, Lucia Attanasio and Niamh Teague playing as a unit denied the opposition.

Vale squandered opportunities to increase the lead and eventually gave away a free kick on the edge of the box and a fine shot hit the top corner of the net for Cascades second goal.

After 66 minutes Ammelie Lewis completed her hattrick with a 30 yard shot giving the Vale keeper no chance.

Vale then took control for the next fifteen minutes and after missing a host of chances scored their sixth goal when Millie Jones completed her hattrick to complete the scoring for the afternoon for a 6-3 victory.

Special mention must go to Georgie Atkinson whose superb display on the right side made her player of the match and to Chloe Saliba for her efforts in defence after coming as a second half substitute.

Next week they are away at Penybont and a similar performance may continue the good start to the season.
