THE Cadoxton Schools of Taekwondo took a small contingent of new and experienced competitors to Pontypool Leisure Centre to compete in the International Combat Organisation Welsh Point Revolution hosted by Robert Taylor.

The event consisted of team and tag team sparring, individual sparring in two categories of weight and height, novice, and advanced point sparring.

In the three person team event we had Maddison Allen, Thea Cunningham and Charlie Rogers who fought their way through to the final only to be beaten into second place by a more experienced team.

Unfortunately they met the same team in the tag team final coming away with another second place.

Also competing for the first time in the boys advanced tag team event we had Cody Jacobsen and Cian Allen, the boys took second place.

Maddison went on to take first place in the -20kg, also taking second and fighting up in to the -25kg and a second in the -120cm.

Thea Cunningham took a third in the -25 advanced category.

One for the future Charlie Rogers came second in the advanced team and third in the -30kg novice.

Gaining more experience, Cameron Evans took third in the novice -140cm and third in the -45kg categories.

Lucia Cunningham took second place in the -40kg advanced, while Jessica Blackley took first in the -40kg and a third in the advanced -140cm.

Unfortunately, the ever improving Jake Quigley came up against the current British champion in the first round only losing out by three points.

Lucy Newman also had some difficult fights just missing out on a podium place this time.

Competing in the men's -65kg and the +160cm categories we had Matthew Bennett, Matthew had to up his game to come away with a credible second in both categories.

While Bradley Halford had an off day he still took second in the -70kg and third in the +160cm boys’ categories.

Coach Ron Thomas said all is looking good for the team flying to Vilsbiburg Germany to compete at the International German Championships being held over the weekend October 11-12.
