Trefelin 3 – 2 Rhoose FC

RHOOSE FC travelled to Port Talbot on Saturday in the Welsh Cup Second Qualifying round and surrendered their previously unbeaten run losing to the South Wales Amateur League side Trefelin 3-2. Things didn’t bode well as major motorway hold ups delayed the kick-off and meant that the away side needed to ‘re-jig’ their intended starting line up. The home side took the lead early on and soon went two up with the Vale side seemingy loosing their grip on the match. However, Rhoose fought back gamely in the second half and were getting the better of Trefelin. The pressure paid off when Rhoose won a penalty, confidently converted by Drew Fahiya.

Rhoose pressed on and were unlucky not to be rewarded further following excellent approach work from Jemel Easter and Gianluca Palladino. However, Trefelin put the game beyond Rhoose’s reach they went further ahead ten minutes from time when a defensive lapse led to an own goal. Rhoose got a consolation goal on the stroke of full time, but by then it was all over for the Vale side in this season’s Welsh Cup campaign.

The Vale side hope to get back to winning ways this Saturday 27 when they entertain Pontypridd Town in the Welsh League at Jenner Park – Kick-Off at 2:30pm.
