RHOOSE were held 1 – 1 at Windmill Lane Llantwit Major last Wednesday, August 27. Following on from the ‘reverse’ fixture at Jenner Park a week earlier, the match turned into an attrition affair early on with Llantwit doing their utmost to spoil Rhoose’s slick passing game and smooth running style.

The weather and surface also didn’t lend itself to great football. However, it was the away side who took the initiative with a brilliantly worked goal finished off by Nathan White following good approach work by Rhoose skipper Drew Fahiya.

However, the away side were still admiring their good work when a seemingly aimless Llantwit long ball (one of many it has to be said) somehow evaded the otherwise solid Rhoose defence for Llantwit to slot home. And that’s how it stayed, with the home side seemingly happy to settle for a draw.

Llantwit Major 1 – 1 Rhoose FC.

Rhoose progressed to the next round of the Welsh Cup in fine style with a comprehensive win against South Wales Amateur League side Cardiff Hibernian at Jenner Park on Saturday, August 30. The Vale side were off the mark as early as the 6th minute with a well taken goal from top marksman Jacob Daley. Further goals followed at regular intervals, again from Daley, Drew Fahiya (2), Nicky Davison, Matthew Philips and Nathan White.

Rhoose also took the opportunity to introduce their promising young players into the fray, with Lloyd Allen and Curtis Searle making their competitive debuts for Rhoose as 2nd half substitutes along with club stalwart Sion Anstee.

Rhoose travel to Treharris this Saturday, 6 to face Treharris Athletic Western in the Welsh League Division 3.
