SULLY Cricket Club enjoyed a win against St Fagans in the league.

The stage was set for first against second and it proved to be an excellent game played in great spirit as expected against a team, well a club steeped in so much history.

Sully won the toss and elected to field first, despite reservations, but it would prove to be the right decision in the end, (especially with short boundaries on all sides).

Openers Morgan and Loran kept the home team at bay with Morgan (10 overs 2 for 39) and Loran (10 overs 1 for 38)

Andrew Davies (10 overs 4 for 38) was the pick of the bowlers ably supported by Khan (10 overs 1 for 38) and Sathish (5 overs 1 for 23)

And despite a fine 62 from Tom Fields and 35 from Charlie Maynard. St. Fagans at the end of the 45 overs had only amassed 179 for 9 baring in mind the fast outfield and small outfield.

A special mention must go to Sathish who took 4 excellent catches and to loran who took a spectacular slip catch.

The Spartans started badly with Trinash going for a duck and Tibin for 12 and worse was to come with despite a cameo performance from M.Howe (25) Sully were 43 for 3.

Khan joined R. Howe who took the score to 72 before Howe was well caught and the Spartans were in trouble with 4 wickets down.

Vijay came and went and Morgan then joined Khan who together took the score 130 before Khan was out for a superb 51.

At 130 for 6 it was game on but with Sathish deciding to have ago hitting 4 fours in quick succession the match was turning towards the Spartans and with Skipper Morgan pushing the runs along the victory was insight.

Sathish was well caught flashing towards the slips with just 4 runs to win and it was left to Morgan (45 not out) to score the winning runs.

St. Fagans 179 for 9

A. Davies 4 for 38

Morgan 2 for 39

Sully C.C 180 for 7

I. Khan 51

D. Morgan 45 not out

Spartans won by 3 wickets
