CADOXTON v ABERCYNON

Cadoxton Bowling Club hosted Saturday's Municipal League 4 clash and, once again, it was the Kelvin Chedgzoy's rink who stole the limelight in an overall 11-shot victory.

Taking the lead on the third end with a 4, Chedgzoy's four gradually increased their advantage to enjoy a 14-shot success.

Howard Craven’s rink streaked into a 13-0 lead after eight ends and, although the visitors produced a late rally, the home four held for a comfortable win.

Despite taking an early 12-5 lead, Don Kuhnell's four settled for a share of the spoils, while John Jones' rink kept in touch early on but were outmanouvered as the visitors chalked up two 5s in the closing stages.

CAERPHILLY SOCIAL v CADOXTON A

Despite going down on all four rinks and being beaten 102-38 overall, the Cadoxton A side turned in a creditable Municipal League 5 performance against table-topping Caerphilly Social.

New recruit Arthur Field played well on his introduction to league bowls and other Cadoxton players fought equally valiantly.

Skip David Tuck said that he had never used as much chalk in a game as he did on the many touchers of lead Ewan Heppenstall and team captain David Fanning.
