PLAYED for annually between the Cadoxton and Murch (Dinas Powys) bowling clubs, Wednesday's Colin Reynolds Memorial Trophy doubled up as a Munro Cup clash.

Hosts Cadoxton regained the trophy and took maximum cup points with a convincing display on all rinks

The rinks of Don Kuhnell and Howard Craven surrendered early leads before hitting back for victory, while Kelvin Chedgzoy's four led throughout to complete a handsome victory. Despite a late surge by Murch, John Jones' four completed a whitewash for Cadoxton.

Skip scores (Cadoxton names first): S Clements, S Clarke, D Brook, H Craven 23, C Salvidge, T Davies, T Rice, R Mauchline 12; J Stacey, A Turner, G Davies, D Kuhnell 23, D Bateman, A Perry, B Frampton, C Garland 9; S Clement, P Swannick, P Ellis, K Chedgzoy 20, B Marsh, T Hockley, A Thomas, D Poole 11; H Hellyar, R Byrne, I Robertson, J Jones 17, P Willis, D Perkins, M Worman, R Croach 10. ST MELLONS v CADOXTON

With the previous week's points haul being annulled following the withdrawal of Cardiff West End from Municipal League 4, there was further disappointment for Cadoxton as they struggled in Saturday's clash on the Cardiff club's synthetic surface and were well beaten by 37 shots.

The only bright spot for Cadoxton was a great performance from the rink skipped superbly by Kelvin Chedgzoy which led throughout. There was good assistance from Paul, Roy and Phil as the four mastered the green from the start.

Trailing 14-1, Don Kuhnell’s rink, with the exception of David Evans whose accuracy kept the score down, looked as though they had never played bowls before. However, they were much better after the tea break but ran out of ends.

The other two rinks were both well beaten.

Cadoxton: S Clarke, J Crout, D Brook, H Craven 13-35; P Swannick, R Harding, P Ellis, K Chedgzoy 22-14; J Stacey, D Evans, G Davies, D Kuhnell 13-16; H Hellyar, A Carpenter, I Robertson, J Jones 16-36. St Mellons 101, Cadoxton 64.

CADOXTON A v LLANTRISANT A

Once again lacking a number of players, Cadoxton A suffered another comprehensive Municipal League 5 defeat. Hopefully, members will be able to respond positively and the team can field four full rinks.
