PENARTH and Dinas Runners made the most of the sunny weather by competing in two races in the space of a week.

Star performers included the likes of Malcolm Bradley, Marc Durkin and Danielle Rayner as they achieved personal bests times and silverware for themselves too.

Malcolm Bradley scooped 3rd place in his age category in the Man v Horse race last month, as well as 1st in his age category in the Aberdare Park 5 Miler, while both Danielle Rayner and Marc Durkin also notched up impressive times in the SSAFA 5k race series.

Last Wednesday a team of Penarth runners competed in the second fixture of the SSAFA 5k three race series at Bute Park.

In the provisional results Marc Durkin took more than a minute off his personal best time with 20.04, while Danielle Rayner took nearly half a minute off her PB with a time of 23.32.

Both put their success down to hard work and track training as they reaped the rewards of the last few months.

Louise Hunt, Steve Hill, Michelle Hoey, Chris Nellins, Cath Tailby, Andrew Palmer, Andrea Hurman and Yvonne Williams also took part in the race in glorious sunshine.

A team of Penarth runners also took part in the Will Burrows 5 Mile Race in Aberdare, which was the third fixture of the inaugural season of the South Wales Running League.

Both Malcolm Bradley and Yvonne Williams were celebrating after the race for finishing top of their respective age categories.

Malcolm Bradley was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in 30th place in a time of 35.36.

Glenn Powell was next up in 44th in 39.30.

Yvonne Williams was 55th in 41.03.
