Entertaining the Penarth side in a Munro Cup fixture, the Barry Romilly bowlers continued their good form to take 10 points from a 14-shot victory (73-59).

Against difficult opponents, Romilly gained the early advantage, but a 19-10 lead was down to just three shots after 10 ends. However, Rom rallied to extend the lead and, in the overall success, there were draws for the Mike Doyle (13-13) and Bryn Gough (15-15) rinks respectively. Fred Phillips' rink dropped a three on the final end to lose 23-21, while Mel Newman's four triumphed 26-10.

On Saturday Romilly welcomed Sully for their third Municipal League 1 game and chalked up a second success thanks to a maximum14 points haul (103-44).

Making steady progress and maintaining their concentration, Romilly were always in control.

Rink scores (Romilly first): J Wright 33, D Curtis 8; G Cogbill 24, B Griffiths 15; M Newman 22, C Best 13; F Phillips 24, D Edwards 8.

Struggling to field a team due to illness but boosted by some members changing their plans, Barry Romilly had a full team for Saturday's Municipal League 3 game.

On the home side's carpeted green, Romilly started positively and trailed by just four shots after five ends, but the home side turned the screw to register an 103-68 win.

The Romilly rink of Terry Mahoney, Peter Denley, Bob Wyatt and Des Bannister pulled off a fantastic win by five shots to gain two points, while Bryn Gough’s four fought right to the last end to lose by only three shots.
