FOLLOWING the success of last year's 'Only Girls Allowed' coaching sessions and the huge popularity of Friday fun clubs for minis and juniors, the Barry Tennis Club has launched a new initiative for girls.

Initially, the Tuesday sessions are completely free of charge for all and, subsequently, £3 for non-members and free for members.

A spokeswoman said: "The sessions are designed as an opportunity for girls to get on court and have fun in a non-threatening, non-competitive environment, and each will include on court games and activities to boost their confidence and nurture a love of the sport as a social fitness activity."

Five to nine year olds are welcome from 4-5pm, and 10 to16 year olds from 5-6pm.

The spokeswoman added: "Just turn up in appropriate sports clothing and footwear (with a drink and sun hat/sunscreen when necessary), and the club will provide all necessary equipment.

"If you have a budding Heather Watson or Maria Sharapova, come along to the clubhouse this Tuesday (parking available for club attendees)."
