DESPITE Carruthers Shield defeats against Pyle and Barry Romilly, the Rhoose Bowling Club men's teams are enjoying a fairly successful season.

A win against Barry club Millwood in the Munro Cup was followed by home and away friendly successes against Barry Central.

On a carpet green at St Mellons on June 7, Rhoose were hopeful of doing well in a Municipal League fixture and so it proved as they returned with 12 points from a convincing 97-58 win. Winning rinks were skipped by Paul Williams, Ron Ball and Les Parsons, jnr. The result was welcome revenge for a home defeat at the hands of the Cardiff side last year.

On June 14 Rhoose welcomed Abercynon for a second league match and secured another convincing win despite Paul Williams’ rink losing heavily. This was balanced by captain Geoff Lages' rink which won 37-5. Overall, Rhoose won 91-64.

Playing their second league game away at Llantwit Major, the Rhoose ladies lost heavily on two rinks although there was success for Anita Shears’ four. In the Double Rink competition, Rhoose secured a convincing 49-19 win against Pontyclun.
