2013/14 season

CADOXTON Imps has enjoyed a marvellous 2013/14 season at all levels especially at the junior age groups.

The Year 7 ‘Imps’ won the League title after a dramatic 1–0 play-off win against Sully Sports in their own backyard at Sully Sports ground. The Year 8 side finished a very credible 7th after starting the season not knowing if they would have enough players to start the campaign. The Year 9 ‘Dragons’ won the League title and completed the season undefeated whilst the Year 9 ‘Devils’ finished in 4th place. At Year 10 age group, the ‘Bees’ ended the season as runners-up to Sully Sports by three points whilst the ‘Imps’ finished the season in 5th position after a very difficult season.

In the Junior Cups, the Year 7 ‘Imps’ made it to the final and lost narrowly to Sully Sports 1–2, whilst the Year 9 ‘Dragons’ also lost in the delayed final to Llantwit Major 1–3, with the Year 10 ‘Bees’ also making the final and again, lost to Sully Sports by the score of 1–2. The Year 9 ‘Devils’ and Year 10 ‘Imps’ also made the semi-finals where they were unfortunately drawn to play against their counterparts.

All the teams had a very successful and enjoyable season with some great football being played by all sides.

The Imps’ senior side are currently in a transformation period and with new manager Gareth ‘Bish’ Evans in charge things are starting to look up. They finished 10th in the League which is a significant improvement on last season, and considering that the side had a lot of young 16 year-old players playing senior football for the first time, it is due in no uncertain terms that the major reason for the side sticking together and finishing the season well is down to ‘Bish’ and the way he has kept them all together and focussed.

The club will be holding it’s end of season presentation evening at the Island Sports and Social Club on Sunday, June 22. Doors open at 2.30pm and proceedings will start at 3pm with the mini football teams. The Imps’ end of season raffle will be drawn at this presentation at around 5.30pm. The main prize will be a 40” TV donated by Lyndon Smith of LDS Motors, followed by the second prize of a limo ride to and from Illtyd 216 restaurant with a £50 voucher towards a meal donated by A G Adams & sons. The third prize is to be £50 worth of McDonald’s food vouchers and we are also hoping to have a signed Wales shirt from Aaron Ramsey as another raffle prize to go along with numerous other minor prizes. Raffle tickets are priced at £1 each (£5 for a book of five) and all Imps managers and Committee members can be contacted if any are required.

2014/15 season

The Imps are always looking to strengthen their teams and if anyone is interested in becoming an ‘Imp’ contact any of the managers or committee members. Imps are especially looking for players at Year 9 and 10 this season in particular, but any players from any ages are welcome.

They are also looking for new or established teams at the following Year levels as they do not have any in place for the coming season – Years 5, 6 and 7. A kit will be provided as will indoor training facilities and training equipment and obviously training and match footballs. Manager/coach training will also be paid for by the club as any manager or coach new to football will have to undergo a DBS check and have to hold a Football Leaders Award with a first aid certificat, but as stated above the club will pay for these courses if required.
