HAVING faced each other the previous week in the league, and Cogan coming away with a comfortable victory Cadoxton new they would be in for another tough morning in this return fixture.

Cogan manager and birthday boy Lee 'Packer' Williams was left with several absentees from the previous week. Three of his squad were ruled out as they were under strict instructions not to play as representing the Cardiff and Vale schoolboys football later that day, and ongoing injuries to others.

Such is the strength in depth of this squad you would never have guessed as Cogan took the game to the Imps from the first whistle. After good link up play between Kellan Allison and Alex John down the left, John drove a teasing ball into the area that looked destined for the keeper until Cian McCarthy reacted sharply to clip the ball over the keeper and into the net. McCarthy soon added a second after a smart pass by Louis Crook presented him with an opening that he duly buried. Cadoxton reacted to long balls to the lone striker, which were comfortably dealt with by the centre half pairing of Matty Frost and Ben Fleig. More good work from John ended in Luke Warlow, who had been causing problems all morning, turning the ball home for the last goal of the half. Cogan now playing downhill for the second half began to enjoy more possession. Eithan Singh being one of them as he threaded an inch perfect pass for Crook to run onto and bury inside the back post. The half time introduction of Aiden Ellis soon paid off as his through ball allowed Singh to out muscle his marker and finish from the edge of the area past the oncoming keeper.

As the goals flowed credit must go to Aron Arthur's work rate as he popped up all over the park, and Cole Roberts putting in another solid performance down the right. The sixth goal came as Crook drove at the Imps defence and unleashed a screamer into the top corner leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. Alex John got himself on the scoresheet after more good play by Warlow. Crook wrapped up a well deserved hat trick direct from stand in goalie for the day Ryan Packers goal kick. Manager WIlliams was again pleased with the mornings events at full-time, specially as it resulted in a big slice of birthday cake for him.
