HUNDREDS of children and young people from across the Vale of Glamorgan are set to benefit from an exciting new football player development pathway.

Endorsed by the Vale Junior Soccer League, the pathway is delivered by PG10 Coaching and Wales legend Neville Southall. PG10 already run a popular development centre in Barry and this new initiative will be the official player development pathway in the county.

There will be two tiers to the centre - Tier One for talented players aged four to 17 and Tier Two for participation and any player aged four to 17 wishing to get active and take part in sessions.

As well as providing talented children with a pathway to professional football, the centre will continue to focus on developing and increasing the skills of young footballers of all abilities, with opportunities to develop and learn in a fun and safe environment.

A key aim will be to protect and nurture each player's special talents and ensure that talented players are given the very best opportunities and support to reach their full potential.

Having the centre in place will raise standards of play and develop the children as they will compete against quality opposition on a regular basis against teams from Premier League and Football League clubs and county teams. The local teams will play as Bro Morgannwg.

A unique player development day takes place at the FAW Dragon Centre Headquarters, Newport, on Saturday, August 26, to officially launch the 2014/2015 season. All players are welcome to attend.

The pathway will also provide opportunities for players to take part in Futsal, soccer camps and global tours as well as gaining accredited coaching qualifications and undertaking first aid, child protection training and referees' courses.

A Vale Junior Soccer League spokesman said: “The league wishes Peter Griffiths and PG10 every success and this, in turn, will lead to greater achievements for the participating players."

Dates for open days are as follows: June 2 - U7-U9, 5-6pm; U10-U11, 6-7pm. June 3 - U12-13, 5-6pm; U14-U15, 6-7pm; U16-U17, 7-8pm.

The pathway is open to every player in the Vale of Glamorgan and players are encouraged to enrol before May 31; for more information please contact 07955270870, email petegriff10@hotmail.co.uk or visit www.pg10coaching.co.uk
