This was a South Wales Senior Soccer League game that coupled end of season lethargy with moments of excitement that threatened to break the deadlock - but not quite.

Mid park football resulted, with neither side creating any opportunity until a 'keeper clearance skidded from Dawson's head into the path of a Sporting runner and it took a well timed intervention from Baker to maintain the parity. And only a minute later it took a good save from Davey to keep things even.

Clever play by Thompson saw him find Weekley with a diagonal pass, but the shot went just over. Then another header, this time from Bridges, went over following a clever overhead scissor kick pass from Morgan. And again it was Morgan with a diagonal cross that set up Thompson with time and space. But, in deciding to fire early, he lost his chance.

Baldock and Macarthy replaced Andrews and Sam Williams early in the second half as the game drifted into a curiously becalmed mode. And it stayed that way until the visitors started creating a series of chances that CB were glad to escape from unscathed.

And CB broke the spell when Morgan mesmerised the opposing midfield with a dazzling run before finding Thompson whose great volley was well held by the 'keeper.

Then a further benign spell followed before the final whistle brought an end to one of the less inspiring games seen at Bryn-y-Don this season.

Next Saturday Cadoxton Barry entertain Tonyrefail at Bryn-y-Don in a 2pm kick off.
