GORSEINON 5pts

BARRY BOMBETTES 25

TRAVELLING west for this rescheduled cup game, the Barry women's rugby side warmed to their task in the early spring sunshine.

Bombettes started strongly, with forwards to the fore and Potter made an awesome tackle which led to an injury for the home side and uncontested scrums. The good team work of Bombettes kept the home side on the back foot and led to a first try for the visitors from Young.

Although Gorseinon hit back with a try, Bombettes built on the good work of the pack with some telling runs from the back line and Potter raced over from the 22. Smashing through the home back line, Kim Jones scored Bombettes' third try to put the side 15-5 ahead at half-time.

Bombettes brought on replacement Rees in the back line in second half and, with the home side tiring, Jones stormed through for a second try.

Giving it their all, with support and communication coming from around the park, Bombettes continued to dominate and gained great ground when O'Neill chipped and chased from halfway.

Bombettes' forwards continued to cover the ground and Potter came powering through for a fifth try.

The team and all at Barry Rugby Club extend massive best wishes to Rebecca Husk who, having played her last game of the season, is leaving for a career in the Army.

Bombettes host a live band night on May 17 at the Barry club; £5 a ticket.
