THE Barry Athletic Cricket Club launch their season this weekend with home friendlies against Backwood Town (Saturday, April 12) and Machen (April 13). Both games start at 2pm, with players to be at the ground for 1pm.

There is also a friendly on Wednesday , April 16, against Barry West End, with a 6pm start; players to be at the ground for 5.30pm.

On Saturday, April 26, Barry Athletic entertain local rivals Sully Centurions at The Island Oval for their first league game, with a 1pm start, and not Newbridge as previously advertised. This follows Sully’s decision to pull out of the SWALEC Premier League and their subsequent demotion to Division 2 and Newbridge being invited to go into Division 1. Indeed, Barry Athletic were overlooked for promotion for the second time in the close season.

The public of Barry are urged to make every effort to go along to Barry Island on April 26 to support Barry’s premier cricket team.

Junior nets are also under way and are taking place at the Cadoxton Sports Hall on a Mondays (6-7pm).
