BARRY Romilly Men’s Bowling Section are eagerly looking forward to the start of the new outdoor season with the opening day on Saturday, April 19.

The committee have been working hard during the winter to get ready for the forthcoming season especially secretary George Trepleton and chairman Graham Cogbill who have been working closely with the local council on preparation of the green.

The green has always had issues but with necessary actions put into place with support from the council, bowlers can hopefully expect improvement over previous seasons, although continued work over the coming years should see expectations met.

Dave Noble has taken on the roll of fixture secretary and has arranged some strong friendlies to get the club team ready to play in the Carruthers Shield competition which opens the competitive season in early May. Teams in Romilly’s section include Pencoed, Kenfig Hill and Rhoose.

Importantly the club is holding a pre-season meeting at 10.30am on Saturday, April 5, and all players are requested to attend, whereby important points need to be expressed also, annual fees can be collected on the day.
