THERE was plenty of talent on show when ten teams, representing six schools from across the Vale, took part in the annual 5x60 basketball tournament.
Staged at the Cogan Leisure Centre, the girls' event involved five teams from Cowbridge, and Stanwell and St Cyres, Penarth, in a round robin competition which proved highly competitive.
In a deciding final game, a Cowbridge team took the trophy with a narrow win over a St Cyres' team, with both qualifying for a regional final.
The boys’ event featured teams from Ysgol Bro Morgannwg, St Richard Gwyn and Barry Comprehensive in Barry, Stanwell and St Cyres, and Cowbridge.
After two groups were involved in round robin matches, teams from Stanwell and Bro Morgannwg met in a pulsating final.
Following a first half, which was nip and tuck, Bro Morgannwg showed their fitness and aggression to pull away and storm to victory. Both teams, once again, advance to the regional finals.
