A NEW sports opportunity for four to seven year olds has been launched in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Wales and Everton legend Neville Southall, PG10 Coaching and Little Stars have teamed up to provide both football and rugby sessions for youngsters to benefit grassroots sport and increase participation and standards in a fun and safe environment.

Sessions will run every Monday at Bryn Hafren School, Barry, from 6-7pm and provide children with the opportunity to join development centres as they grow older.

Children will be introduced to both rugby and football, learn the skills through coaching, develop ability, balance, co-ordination and speed and have fun.

Throughout the year, there will be opportunities to play in fun football and rugby day festivals on: Sunday, March 23, Cardiff Arms Park - home pitch of Cardiff Blues; Sunday, April 13, Scarlets rugby indoor barn; Sunday, October 26, Llandarcy Sports Centre - Swansea FC and Ospreys training indoor barn.

Peter Griffiths, of PG10, said: "The key aim is for children to be introduced to both sports and enjoy themselves. They can also be offered the chance to join weekly development centres, ensuring a clear development pathway.”

Anthony Dunne, of Little Stars, said: “We are delighted to offer parents and children the unique opportunity to learn great new transferable skills across both football and rugby by expert coaches."
