BARRY'S Anthony Davies and another former snooker professional, Lee Walker, of Newbridge, have been appointed as joint Welsh national coaches.

Both are WSA Grade A coaches and are hoping to get more youngsters taking up the sport which has a rich heritage in Wales which has produced three former world champions - the legendary Ray Reardon and Terry Griffiths and, more recently, Mark Williams.

Anthony and Lee will be working with the Welsh Sports Council and World Snooker and have the backing of arguably the world's best coach - 1979 world champion and WBSA president Terry Griffiths.

They hope to introduce more youngsters to snooker through a 'Cuezone' scheme being rolled out in schools around the world by World Snooker and academy training days across the Principality.

Anyone who is interested in learning to play can contact Lee or Anthony via the World Snooker website coaching programme.
