HOSTED by the Cadoxton Conservative Club, the Barry Darts League singles championship attracted around 40 players.

Following three knockout rounds, Poachers provided five of the last eight and, in the quarter-finals, Jon Hurn beat team mate Richie Williams, while fellow Poacher Charlie James lost to Dave Davies (Mariners). The two remaining Poachers, Ray Way and Terry Overton, won through to the semis by beating Mark Jackson and Tom Morrison respectively.

Both semi-finals ended 3-1, with Davies and Way getting the better of Hurn and Overton respectively.

Trailing 3-1 in the final, Davies hit back to force the game to a deciding leg, but Way held his nerve to clinch the championship with a fantastic 146 out shot. Hurn hit a 130 out shot in the final.

There were 180s on the night by Way, Hurn and Robyn Loe.

League officials extend their thanks to all those who took part and those who helped setting up and organising the event, and the Cadoxton Cons for hosting the evening and setting up the boards, etc.
