THE third Welsh junior snooker event of the season was held on Sunday at Penarth Snooker Club and once again featured Barry boy Alfie Davies and Ebbw Vale's Jackson Page.

The two, who had also featured in the previous two finals, again produced snooker of a very high standard, with both showing why they are the top two ranked juniors in Wales.

With Alfie failing to settle, Jackson won the first two frames, but the former hit back to win the third frame before losing the fourth on the black and the match 3-1. Jackson had earlier knocked in his highest match break of 86 in his first round win against North Walian Bradley Ferguson.

Both players are certain to represent Wales this summer in the Celtic Challenge match with Ireland at the Terry Griffiths Club in Llanelli.

Performance of the day came from ten-year-old Jacob Boyle, of Cardiff, who beat Liam Davies (Tredegar) having trailed 1-0 and needing a snooker on the pink before winning a respotted black.

Barry boy and former top professional Anthony Davies runs junior classes in the Vale for youngsters aged eight to17 (full CRB through World Snooker). Anyone interested in learning to play can get further info on 02920 702783.
