BARRY Island will play host to its second ever Sport Relief Mile this spring and your steps could help raise vital funds.

The Sainsbury’s sponsored event will take place at Whitmore Bay on Sunday, March 23, taking in the sea views on the day.

Runners begin their efforts at Friars Road, Barry Island, opposite The Dolphin Bar, at 11am.

The Barry Island Mile will pass along the Barry Island seafront and is set to be an exciting event.

Entrants can complete one, three or six miles with monies raised helping people in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Vale Council events officer Sarah Jones said: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Barry Island is here and it’s your time to shine. From teeny-tots with their mums and dads to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day. It’s set to be a great event. So come on, pull your Sport Relief socks up, enter the Mile and do something amazing.”
