ON SATURDAY, January 25, at Portmead Social Club, Swansea, 14-year-old, 42 kilo, Tyron Hayman won his first Welsh title on a split decision.
Evan Jones, from North Wales, had beaten the Rhoose boxer last year in the final by one point and Hayman was keen for a rematch.
After a hard fought contest and, with all fairness the match could have gone either way, in the end went to the Rhoose boxer who took the Welsh honour.
After the contest and back in the dressing room, Tyron dedicated his win to his mother who he lost to cancer five years ago.
His club coach said: βHe is a very dedicated young man and if anyone deserves a bit of luck it is Tyron. At the school of boxing at Rhoose, we intend to steer all boxers to bright futures in and out of the ring.β
