Runners race in Riverbank Rollick cross country

PENARTH and Dinas Runners battled through endless swamps and ankle deep mud sections in the Riverbank Rollick cross country race in Thornbury over the weekend.
The tenth Riverbank Rollick was run in perfect conditions, with sunny weather and a little bit of wind, with plenty of mud thrown into the challenging run.
A total of 335 runners enjoyed the route, which featured several ankle deep mud sections and large puddles, and enjoyed tea, cakes and an awards ceremony after the race.
A total of eight Penarth and Dinas Runners took part in the race on Sunday, January 19.
Andrew Palmer was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in 139th place in 1.25.30.
Anna Helsing was the first woman from Penarth to cross the finish line in 211th in 1.36.02
Michelle Hoey was not far behind in 226th in 1.38.16.
Steve Hill crossed the finish line in the exact same time in 227th.
Andrea Pace ran well in 262nd in 1.43.03.
Sarah Pope was 280th in 1.45.29.
Mandy Barrington achieved 294th in 1.48.51.
Stella Sturgess was 303rd in 1.52.07.
Penarth and Dinas Runners’ next club championship race will be the Lliswerry 8 road race on Sunday, January 26. On Friday, January 24, the running club will enjoy their club presentation night where the overall men’s and women’s champion, as well as individual age category winners, will be presented with their trophies.
The running club meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre at 7pm.
The session on Monday, February 3, will start at 6.30pm to allow time for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held at 8pm. The meeting will be held in Squash Court Number 2.
