COMBINED rugby and football training for young children are being launched in Barry, with the backing of Wales football legend Neville Southall.

The former Everton and Wales goalkeeper has given his seal of approval to the unique session for children aged four to seven.

PG10 Coaching and Little Stars have teamed up to provide both football and rugby sessions to benefit grassroots sport and increase participation and standards in a fun and safe environment.

Sessions will run every Monday at Bryn Hafren School, Barry 6pm to 7pm, where children will be coached in rugby and football skills, have fun being introduced to both games, and develop ability, balance. coordination and speed.

Throughout the coming year opportunities will be on offer to play in fun football and rugby day festivals across South Wales.

Peter Griffiths of PG10 said: “The key aim for the sessions and festivals are for children to be introduced to both sports and enjoy themselves, as children grow up they can be offered the chance to join the weekly development centre also, ensuring a clear development pathway."

Anthony Dunne of Little Stars said: “We are delighted to offer parents and children the unique opportunity to learn great new transferable skills across both football and rugby by expert coaches throughout Wales."
