BALA TOWN 6

HAVING done so incredibly well to reach the third round of this season's Welsh Cup competition, Welsh Soccer League side Rhoose were largely outclassed by their North Wales opponents at Jenner Park on Saturday.

In a nightmare start, Rhoose trailed their Welsh Premier League opponents 2-0 after just eight minutes and this, unfortunately, was a sign of things to come.

Although, to their credit, Rhoose battled back strongly to compete, set up some chances of their own and keep the score respectable for almost the remainder of the first half, there was a further body blow when they conceded again with virtually the last kick of the 45 minutes.

In mitigation, some of the Vale side’s class did show through from time to time, with promising displays under very difficult circumstances from Drew Fahiya, Jacob Daly and James Dixon; and it was fitting that Fahiya and Dixon should combine to produce a deserved consolation goal late on.

Rhoose FC would like to thank everyone involved for their help and support - players, officials, ground staff and supporters - in contributing to this great occasion for the club, which attracted a crowd of 102. And to Bala Town, in particular, for being magnanimous in victory, true sportsmen and for their kind words following what was a humbling but valuable learning experience for the Vale of Glamorgan side.

Hoping to quickly put Saturday’s disappointment behind them, Rhoose were back in Third Division action on Tuesday when they entertained Pontypridd Town.
