SULLY Budokan Judo Club members and parents were delighted to meet Barry Town Council mayor Councillor Claire Curtis on her visit to the club on Wednesday, November 28, to present a cheque.
The club extends its thanks to Cllr Curtis and the town council.
Club members demonstrated their judo skills to Cllr Curtis.
The primary classes, aged from six years to nine years, were joined by juniors ten years to 15 years in a judo session. The primaries took on the juniors and seniors in randori and groundwork, impressing the mayor with their breakfalling skills.
Four juniors recently competed in the BJC closed competition in Hereford. Ben Hanson, Rhys Holmes, Jacob Court and Michael Hogan with Jacob and Michael achieving bronze medals. Other club members were also successful, with Robert Cavaye gaining a silver medal and Ian Evans a gold medal.
In September Ben Hanson entered the BJC Welsh Nationals and came away with a silver medal. All the club members are looking forward to the Christmas competition in two weeks.
Judo classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, please phone 0750 2012895 for more information.
