SHOWING outstanding class and ability beyond their experience, youngsters from the Rhoose Boxing Club stormed to a hat-trick of titles at the Welsh novice championships.
First into winning action at Parkmead Social Club, Swansea, was12-year-old Max Taylor who faced Ross Knight (Penaber) in the 36 kilo class and, on his toes from the first bell, he outpunched his opponent in taking all three rounds.
Next up in the 56 kilo class was Jay Munn, aged 14, from Rhoose Point, who exchanged heavy punches with Brandon Roberts (Caernarfon) in the first round. Finding his distance in the second round, Jay let loose with some rapid combinations and forced his opponent to take a standing count. It was more of the same in the third round, resulting in the contest being stopped in Jay's favour.
Completing the title treble was 16-year-old Joe Fettah, from Wenvoe, who met Declan Vickers (Buckley) in the 63 kilo class. Showing his strength and power, Joe won all three rounds to take a well deserved victory.
Jay was back in action at the RAFA Club (Ely) on October 18 when his experience proved too much for Arron Painting (Barry East End).
