Bubble ball brings in the bucks

BRINGING bubble ball to Britain, a Barry dad is taking part in the UK's first zorbing five-a-side football fundraiser.
T? Hafan, the family hospice, has combined football with zorbing, an extreme sport that involves being launched downhill in a huge inflatable ball, to create the unique fundraising tournament.
The new sport sees players running around the pitch wearing the inflatable bubbles while trying to collide with each other. The brainchild of Norwegians Henrik Elvestad and Johan Golden, the first match was posted on YouTube in 2011 and has since swept across Europe.
One of the competitors is goalkeeper Jeff Griffiths, from Barry, a member of T? Hafan's dad's group.
Jeff, 45, said: "I've been going to Ty Hafan since it opened in 1999. My step-daughter Melanie was cared for at the hospice and she passed away there seven years ago.
"I really wanted to give something back so I have been volunteering at the hospice for many years.
"Bubble Football will be our next big dads activity and we can't wait. It looks like such fun and I'm sure we'll have a great time."
Sali Thomas, Head of Events at T? Hafan, said: “We are very excited to be launching the first fundraising event of its kind and would encourage teams to sign up as soon as possible to secure their place."
Entry is £15 per person and each team is challenged to raise £150 in sponsorship for the event which is expected to raise more than £8,000 for T? Hafan.

Cardiff City House of Sport will host the tournament on Sunday, November 10.
